Project overview
The NSW Ministry of Health created a suite of digital resources to help employers across Australia’s health sector recruit overseas-trained professionals more confidently and efficiently. The resources also provide information for new and potential international recruits about living and working in Australia, and the processes for finding a job and moving to the country.
The Ministry took the lead on this work after an independent review of Australia’s regulatory settings for recruiting international health professionals recommended making the process easier and speeding up approvals.
The aim of the project was to centralise resources for health employers recruiting into hospitals, GP clinics and community health settings in medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health roles. It was also designed to encourage employers and local communities to evaluate their existing recruitment processes and their ability to provide the workforces needed to fulfil future healthcare needs.
Solution delivered
The Ministry engaged Editor Group to edit and proofread the resources over three months to ensure they were clear, concise and easy to read.
We reviewed a guide to moving to Australia, with information on everything from Australia’s history and cultures to getting a visa, setting up a home and settling a family into everyday Australian life. We also edited a recruitment toolkit that helps health employers understand recruitment pathways, how to attract and onboard international candidates, and how to support them through the process of registering to work in Australia.
We adhered to a strict template format in editing navigational guides explaining the different recruitment rules and registration processes across Australia’s states and territories.
The guides and toolkit needed to be informative, simple to navigate and easy to understand. Our editors and proofreaders took care to ensure they were written in plain English, with a consistent structure, tone and writing style.
