If you love good writing as much as we do at Editor Group, you’ve no doubt had your fingers crossed that the Sydney Writers’ Festival will return in 2021.
Like many other events, last year’s Festival was cancelled just weeks before its opening night due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 crisis. Fast forward almost 12 months and organisers have announced that the Festival will be back again this year.
As a sponsor of the Festival since 2010 – we provide the organisers with editing and proofreading services – we’re particularly excited that it will be going ahead as an in-person event this year.
While spending more time at home hasn’t been all bad (we’ve had more time to read!) Australia’s creative community needs our support. By attending the Festival we won’t just be participating in Australia’s leading celebration of great thinking and writing, we’ll also be supporting the dozens of other people behind-the-scenes that make events like these work, including event managers, sound engineers, set builders and caterers. Last year was a tough one for many people in this sector; let’s try to make 2021 a better year.
The Sydney Writers’ Festival 2021 will be held from 26 April to 2 May at venues including Carriageworks, Town Hall and City Recital Hall. The program will be released in mid-March.
If you can’t wait until then to indulge your Festival cravings, don’t forget there’s a treasure trove of podcast-style recordings from previous years’ sessions to explore on the Festival’s website. Or check out our latest recommendations in our book club.
