Like many Sydneysiders, the Editor Group team counts down the days to the Sydney Writers’ Festival every year. Not only have we sponsored the event since 2010, by providing the organisers with editing and proofreading services, we also try to make it to as many sessions as possible.

We support the festival because we believe good writing matters, and to give back to the creative community. We also love any forum that encourages more people to write and read.

So, we were super sad to learn that this year’s festival would be cancelled due to the unfolding COVID-19 crisis. This is particularly hard for everyone who worked on the event – including the members of our team who proofread the program – and for all the authors and attendees who will now miss out on a fantastic line-up.

The good news is that you can still learn about the authors and books that would have been featured this year, on the festival’s website. There is also a treasure trove of podcast-style recordings from previous years’ sessions and plenty more for you to explore.

Most importantly, bookmark www.swf.org.au for next year when we all hope the festival is back, bigger and better than ever. In the meantime, if you have a few months stuck at home, you don’t really have any excuse not to read some great literature – or maybe even write some.

To make a start, check out our book club for some inspiration.
