Editor Group was pleased to sponsor the Sydney Writers’ Festival (SWF) again in 2022, which was held from 16–22 May. The iconic event is one of the world’s best-loved writers’ festivals.
After several challenging years due to COVID, the week-long celebration of books and ideas presented more than 120 paid events and more than 60 free events and attracted more than 64,000 book lovers.
Some other amazing numbers include:
- 35,000 tickets sold
- 335 speakers
- 11,000+ books sold
- 73 ‘Live and Local’ venues live streaming events to regional and remote Australians
- 247 volunteers
Authors speaking at this year’s Festival included Booker Prize-winning author Damon Galgut (The Promise), acclaimed novelist Hanya Yanagihara (To Paradise), First Nations’ poet Evelyn Araluen (Dropbear) and journalist and author Trent Dalton (All Our Shimmering Skies).
Editor Group has been a sponsor of the SWF since 2014. Every year, we edit and proofread the program – and we’re proud to do so. The festival does more than just bring together people and ideas; it harnesses the magic of storytelling, showcasing contemporary and diverse writers. It also empowers kids and teenagers across Australia to engage with reading and learning through its Family, Young Adult and Education programs and the Children’s Festival of Moving Stories.

The Sydney Writers’ Festival returns from 22–28 May, 2023. In the meantime, there are plenty of podcasts and event recordings from previous years to enjoy on the SWF website.
