Proofreading and Grammar: Eliminate Errors

Mistakes in your business documents can be embarrassing at best, expensive and damaging to your reputation at worst. Proofreading is an opportunity to iron out flaws and make a document error-free. It rests on a strong understanding of spelling and grammar.

This one-day course will teach you how to take the panic out of proofreading by using a systematic approach to check for consistency, formatting mistakes, introduced errors and adherence to style guides. We also cover common proofreading symbols.

Who should come

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to produce clean copy and perfect documents. You will learn how to make the most of reference books, create style sheets, and understand universal proofreading symbols. The course will also introduce some safety systems to help you avoid common pitfalls of grammar, spelling and punctuation.

What's included?

  • Full day of writing training, including catering (if held at Editor Group)
  • Review of delegates' writing samples prior to the course
  • A complete course manual, with course slides, exercises and handouts
  • Complimentary copy of The Essentials of Great Writing book for each person

"Thanks for a great course. I valued the clear, concise information and excellent delivery, and the advice about where to reference proofreading information in the future."
Kate Mackay, Business Development Manager, Axiss Australia

"I liked all the elements of the proofreading course. I was able to determine my weaknesses and learn simple methods to address them. The grammar section particularly pleased me because it was interesting, informative and genuinely useful - in stark contrast to a previous grammar course I took."
Michelle Hickey, Senior Public Affairs Officer, RailCorp
